Graduate student teacher development using case studies

Case studies are useful in areas in which judgment is a key component of effective practice.  Teaching mathematics requires subject matter knowledge–and judgment.  This talk reports on the use of case studies in the context of teaching mathematics graduate students to teach, with an emphasis on developing the judgment that must accompany subject matter knowledge to lead to effective teaching.  We will do a short case studies discussion as part of the presentation.
