Charmaine Willis

Charmaine N. Willis is Adjunct Assistant Professor of Political Science at the University of Maine. She is a PhD candidate in the Department of Political Science, University at Albany, State University of New York.

Her research interests include social movements and protests, international security, US base politics, and political violence, with a regional focus on East Asia. Her dissertation project examines the interplay of social movement framing and political opportunity structures in the context of anti-US-military movements in Japan, South Korea, and the Philippines. Her work has appeared in the Asian Journal of Comparative Politics, International Studies Perspectives, the Journal of Civil Society, the Journal of Political Science Education, and Small Wars and Insurgencies.
