The Livermore Falls Advertiser cited University of Maine Cooperative Extension professionals Rick Kersbergen and Dave Fuller in a story about unusual double clover blossoms found in Wilton. Kersbergen tentatively identified the plants as red clover or Kura clover.

David Handley, a vegetable and small fruit specialist with the University of Maine Cooperative Extension, talked with the Portland Press Herald about the early strawberry crop this year, suggesting that consumers who like to pick their own berries should do so soon. Centralmaine.com shared the PPH story. 

Kate Garland, a University of Maine Cooperative Extension horticulture professional, and Sonja Birthisel, a postdoctoral researcher at UMaine, talked with the Bangor Daily News about using a flamethrower to kill weeds. Express also reported the story. 

Clay Kirby, a University of Maine Cooperative Extension insect diagnostician, spoke with the Bangor Daily News about June bugs, large harmless beetles that are seen commonly in Maine every year at this time.

Jim Dill, an integrated pest management professional with the University of Maine Cooperative Extension, spoke with the Bangor Daily News about strategies for repelling horse and deer flies. The story featured an image of a deer fly taken by Griffin Dill, manager of the Cooperative Extension tick lab at UMaine.

The Bangor Daily News, the Sun Journal, Morning Ag Clips, Centralmaine.com and the Daily Bulldog promoted a University of Maine Cooperative Extension at 6 p.m. on June 24. “Water Bath Canning Basics–Making Strawberry Jam” will demonstrate how to turn fresh berries into jams and jellies and then preserve them using a boiling water bath canner.
