Media report on farmer wellness forum hosted by UMaine Extension
Maine Public, News Center Maine and WABI (Channel 5 in Bangor) reported on the first Land and Sea Farmer Wellness Forum hosted by University of Maine Cooperative Extension. Among the topics of discussion was a survey in which nearly half of farmers and fishermen in the state say they struggle to access health care due to costs and availability in rural areas. “How do we help support our farmers and it’s not just, let’s grow a better crop, or let’s not be able to think about fishing better, but it’s like how do we take care of each other,”said Dean of the UMaine Extension Hannah Carter to WABI.
