Media statewide share UMaine announcement on invasive tick detection
More than 10 media outlets across Maine, including the Bangor Daily News, Maine Public, News Center Maine, the Portland Press Herald and WMTW (ABC 8 in Portland), shared news from University of Maine researchers that confirmed detection of the Asian longhorned tick in the state for the first time. The tick, identified through UMaine Cooperative Extension’s tick surveillance program, was found in Cumberland County and later confirmed by faculty at UMaine Extension Tick Lab.
