Press Herald highlights UMaine Extension’s tick monitoring program
The Portland Press Herald highlighted a pilot program from the University of Maine Cooperative Extension Tick Lab that established monitoring sites in 15 locations across Maine during summer 2024 to investigate environmental factors that influence tick abundance. Griffin Dill, integrated pest management professional who manages the tick lab, said the sites collect data that measures tick density, soil temperature, soil moisture, air humidity, presence of wildlife and other factors.
