New research on wearable sensors from UMaine highlighted by Fox 22
WFVX (Fox 22 in Bangor) highlighted research from University of Maine students and assistant professor of chemical engineering Evan Wujcik that aimed to make wearable sensor technology more comfortable and reliable. The team of researchers created a prototype of a wearable sensor system that can repair itself like skin by reattaching pieces that tear. “Those polymer molecules want to be amongst themselves so much that when they’re severed and cut, they’ll actually wiggle back into each other,” said Wujcik. Sensors can be used to detect and collect information, such as a patient’s heart rate.
