BDN interviews Dill on wintertime, venomous Maine spider
University of Maine Cooperative Extension pest management associate program administrator Jim Dill was interviewed by the Bangor Daily News about a large spider native to Maine that can be found near water, even in the wintertime. Dill said the fishing spider, also known as the eight-legged angler, will come out of hibernation if the weather gets above freezing. They hunt along the waterfront without using webs to kill small fish, tadpoles, other bugs and baby mice. Fox 23 Maine shared the report from BDN.
