UMaine Extension offering Growing Microgreens 101 workshop Jan. 24

University of Maine Cooperative Extension will host a Growing Microgreens 101 workshop from 5:30 p.m.-7 p.m. on Jan. 24 at the UMaine Regional Learning Center, 75 Clearwater Drive, Suite 104, Falmouth.

Microgreens are herb, flower or vegetable greens grown densely in trays and harvested just after the first true leaves. In the workshop, participants will learn how to grow high-quality microgreens, select varieties based on their flavor profiles and safely harvest, store and use microgreens of their choosing. Attendees will also taste different microgreens and sow trays to take home.

Registration is required as space is limited. The program fee is offered on a sliding scale, $10-$20, with all proceeds supporting the educational mission of UMaine Gardens at Tidewater Farm.
