UMaine School of Performing Arts presenting new translation of ‘The Post Office’
The Division of Theatre and Dance in the University of Maine School of Performing Arts will present a new English translation of a world theater classic, “The Post Office,” Nov. 10-19 at the Cyrus Pavilion Theatre.
Written in 1912 by Rabindranath Tagore, “The Post Office” follows the story of Amal, an ill and isolated child who dreams of traveling the world and befriends the people he meets outside his window. This new adaptation was co-translated by Debaroti Chakraborty and Rosalie Purvis, UMaine assistant professor of theatre and director of the UMaine production.
