PPH reports on federal funds to UMaine for tick research

The Portland Press Herald reported that the University of Maine will receive $6.2 million in federal funding to research ways to control tick populations, identify emerging tick species and expand public health efforts as Lyme disease cases have reached record-high levels in Maine. Griffin Dill, director of the University of Maine Cooperative Extension’s Tick Lab, spoke to the PPH about the funding, noting that the $6.2 million will pay for five years of research and public education.
