Birkel talks about weather extremes, smoky skies with BDN

Sean Birkel, a research assistant professor with the Climate Change Institute at the University of Maine and Maine’s state climatologist, talked with the Bangor Daily News about smoke from fires in Canada and the western U.S. affecting Maine’s air quality. Birkel noted a recent increase in wildfires in Maine, but said it is unclear how the extreme conditions resulting from climate change will ultimately impact Maine.
