Media advance School of Nursing workforce diversification effort
Mainebiz, the Bangor Daily News, WMTW (Channel 8 in Portland) and the Penobscot Bay Pilot shared a news release about the University of Maine School of Nursing working with Northern Light Health and Morgan State University to increase diversity in Maine’s nursing workforce. The project earned them a $1.7 million grant from the federal Health Resources and Services Administration. WVII (Channel 7) spoke with Kelley Strout, director of UMaine’s School of Nursing, about how the grant funds will be used. Strout indicated the funds will support development of an improved admissions process that is expected to diversify the state’s nursing workforce.
