Hutchinson Center offers Online Grant Writing program

Registration is now open for the five-day professional development program “Grant Writing Essentials,” which will be held from 9 a.m.–noon May 21 and 28, and June 4, 11 and 18 through the University of Maine Hutchinson Center.

This synchronous Zoom program will teach the basics of grant seeking for new and experienced grant writers — from inception to completion. Participants will learn how to prepare an organization to apply for grants, where to find funders and funding opportunities, and how to develop the components of a grant and submit a complete and compelling application.

Instructor Elizabeth Haffey is a Maine-based professional grant writer. She received her bachelor’s degree in international affairs from George Washington University and is currently studying for a master’s degree in public policy from the University of Southern Maine. Through her business, E. Haffey Grant Consulting, she teaches clients to research opportunities and develop and draft grant proposals, and trains staff and volunteers to apply for grants.

Participants will earn a badge in Grant Writing Level 1 and 2 and a certificate of completion. For those interested in continuing education credits, 3 CEUs and 30 contact hours are available.

The fee for this online program is $850. A limited number of need-based scholarships are available for attendees who live or work in Knox or Waldo counties. More information and a registration link is available online
