Calderwood talks with AP about challenges to Maine blueberry industry

The Associated Press interviewed Lily Calderwood, a University of Maine Cooperative Extension wild blueberry specialist, about the impacts of drought, disease and the pandemic on Maine’s blueberry industry in 2020. “It was uniquely challenging, but we have had late frosts in the past and we have had drought in the past,” said Calderwood. “The growers are a very resilient group of farmers who grow a very diverse crop.” Morning Ag Clips, the Bangor Daily NewsCentralMaine.com, the Lewiston Sun JournalWGME (Channel 13 in Portland), the Antelope Valley Press, Petoskey News and Seacoastonline all shared the AP story.
