CBS News interviews Mayewski on rising North Pole temperatures
CBS News spoke with Paul Mayewski, director of the University of Maine’s Climate Change Institute, about the recent rise in temperatures at the North Pole. The Arctic has seen warmer temperatures, lower levels of sea ice and more open water in recent years. “High up into the Arctic and close to the North Pole, the temperatures are very, very possibly above freezing,” Mayewski told CBS News Wednesday, calling current temperatures in the Arctic “remarkable.”
