Sun Journal reports on Maine National History Day winners

The Sun Journal reported on Androscoggin and Oxford county students who won awards at the statewide National History Day (NHD) competition held at the University of Maine in April. NHD is an academic program that promotes critical thinking, research and presentation skills through project-based learning for students of all abilities. Approximately 340 students from 35 middle and high schools were accompanied by their teachers, friends and families to showcase exhibits, papers, websites, documentaries and performances based on original student research at several locations on campus. Maine National History Day is a partnership between UMaine and the Margaret Chase Smith Library, with support from the Maine Humanities Council and the Maine Historical Society. Top state winners will be eligible to compete in the national contest in Washington, D.C. in June.
