UMaine waste study cited in BDN article on diverting food from landfills
A 2011 waste characterization study by the University of Maine School of Economics was cited in the Bangor Daily News article, “How we can divert food from landfills to cupboards, food banks.” The study found about 28 percent of what Mainers send to landfills is food, according to the article.
