UMaine heating cost analysis cited in Pocono Record report

A University of Maine analysis on heating costs was cited in the Pocono Record article, “Winter won’t freeze your wallet.” Heating prices have fallen and electricity rates have remained stable heading into what is predicted to be a mild winter, according to the article. The UMaine study found heating oil costing $1.80 a gallon produces the same heat as a gallon of propane at $1.76, a cord of hardwood costing $240, or electricity at $0.08 per kilowatt hour, the article states.
