Spirit Week returns April 26 to May 2
University of Maine is holding Spirit Week, a week of a full week of beautification, service, and school spirit events, from April 26 to May 2. This tradition started back in 1935 when President Arthur Hauck created MAINE DAY, a day set aside for “spring-clean up” of our campus.
This year’s Spirit Week will include several sporting events on April 26, multiple Black Bear Exchange events on April 28 and May 2, and service projects on April 29 and 30, the Maine Day of Service. Among them will be the Honors College’s Maine Day Meal Packout on April 30, during which hundreds of students will pack tens of thousands of meals for the food insecure.
April 30 will also be the Maine Day of Giving, hosted by the University of Maine Foundation. Maine Day of Giving is a 24-hour day of philanthropy where UMaine Alumni, faculty, staff, students, and friends join together to make a gift that supports the University.
