Sustainability Courses Offered by UMaine

The University of Maine places great emphasis on its natural science programs and endeavors to embody sustainable values as an institution. UMaine has made deliberate efforts to improve campus infrastructure and functionality, participate in important interdisciplinary sustainability research, and create relevant academic courses focusing on important subsets of sustainability principles.

There are many facets of sustainability, and solutions to complex environmental problems are often interdisciplinary. All aspects of society including agriculture, politics, energy production, and collective behavior are influenced by environmental issues which can often be alleviated through the adoption of sustainable practices and techniques.
