Interdisciplinary Team Tackles Food Waste This Summer
For the second year in a row, the Mitchell Center has funding to support an interdisciplinary team of students (each with a faculty advisor) to work on food sustainability, and particularly, the problem of food waste.
Last year’s team included students from Anthropology, Nursing, Food Science, Economics, and Environmental Engineering. This year, they are very keen to include humanities expertise, as well. Imagine bringing in the skills of ethical argument, persuasive writing, or the immediacy of visual image in communication–even VR!
Deborah Saber in Nursing is leading the project, and she is really open to a wide array of possibilities. Team meetings will begin in April 2019; research proceeds in summer- fall, and students present their work in a variety of professional venues during spring 2020.
