Dr. David Harder received his B.S. in Zoology from the University of Wisconsin, an M.S. in Physiology, and a Ph.D. in Biophysics from the Medical College of Wisconsin. At the Medical College of Wisconsin, he was the founding Director of the Cardiology Center, Professor of Physiology, Medicine, and Pediatrics, and Associate Dean.
He came to the University of Maine in 2019 and was appointed as the Associate Professor of Medicine and in 2020 became the Director of the University of Maine’s newly established Institute of Medicine. In this role he works closely with the faculty of the University of Maine and outside partnerships with the university, including hospital and outside research institutions.
Dr. Harder has gone on to publish over 250 peer reviewed articles and has been in the top 5% of NIH funded Investigators over a 25-year period, ending in 2018.
