Quarantravel story of the week: Sunrise hike
With all the time on our hands during quarantine, why not try out catching the first rays of sun by doing a sunrise hike! UMaine seniors Jake and Chloe had this to say about their sunrise hike a week ago:
Chloe: That was definitely the earliest I’ve ever hiked but the view was worth it! I was proud of myself for doing it.
Jake: Bald mountain in Dedham is great for sunrise hikes when you’re living in Orono because it’s as close as chick hill but takes half the time to walk and the view is… arguably better. The only challenging part is the fact that the trail is straight uphill and the trail is on the west side of the mountain so you need to race up there before you can actually nab a view of the sunrise. I’m a big fan of chasing sunrises no matter how early but Chloe hadn’t ever done that before. Nevertheless she was a champ! We got up at 5am, caught the sunrise at 6am, got back to Orono by 7am and had the whole day to work, nap, or do whatever we liked!
Thanks for sharing Chloe! I didn’t have a choice because I write all of these social media posts, but you didn’t have to and you chose to anyways, so thank you!
