Places in Maine we love: Katahdin! Can you tell that we can’t get enough of this Maine staple? Katahdin is not only the largest mountain in the state and the grand finale of the Appalachian Trail, but is also a challenge that UMaine students from all backgrounds take on each fall and winter on Maine Bound trips. This hike is definitely not for the I’ll prepared, but we guarantee that it’ll be one of the most rewarding experiences of your life to make it to the summit. Baxter state park just announced that the park won’t be opening until July, but hopefully it’ll be open in the fall, ready to have our students on its trails!
