Description: The rise of ancient Rome from a small Italian town to mistress of the Mediterranean.  Problems of excessive greatness including failure of a city-state republic to rule a vast empire and triumph of Caesarism.  Covers the establishment of the “Roman Peace” under the emperors, “Christianization” and problem of the “Decline of Rome”.

General Education Requirements: This course satisfies no general education requirements.

Prerequisites: Three credits in History.
