Description: An introduction to maritime aspects of the history of Maine, from aboriginal uses through the current state of maritime Maine, with lectures, discussions, and required and suggested readings. Emphasis will be given to the coast’s history, Maine’s relationship with the sea, Maine’s maritime relationship to the world, and the archaeological and historical research being conducted to learn more of the state’s maritime past.
