Role in Graduate Student Government: My role in the Graduate Student Government is the role of Outreach and Professional Development Officer. I am coordinating resources to support graduate students in their professional development on campus. I will also be working with the Alumni Association to organize networking and other outreach events. In general, I am happy to receive any questions about resources on campus that help you with your work and your career goals, as well as connect people and create a harmonious, well-connected and supportive atmosphere.
Reason behind joining the GSG as an officer: When I first moved to Maine in August 2019, I immediately felt the warmth and welcome of the University of Maine community. I wanted to be a part of it and to be involved, which is why I became a senator at the Graduate Student Government. During my time as senator, I realized that I would like to have a more active role and therefore, I applied to be an officer.
As an officer in the GSG how would you like to contribute in such a way that you improve the situation for graduate students?: I want to improve the situations of graduate students by promoting events helping with professional development but also refer to any currently helpful resources. Additionally, I would like to create a support system and the opportunity to get to know fellow graduate students.
Long Term Career Goals: Diplomacy.
Research at Umaine: I am currently pursuing research on the area of cultural communication and plan on analyzing if emerging democratic constitutions in former non-democratic countries now lead to increased support for global democracy.
Fun facts: I never know what to answer when asked that question.
Hobbies: Yoga, (beach-)Volleyball, Reading.
