Program/Department: Education (MAT)

Why did you decide to become a GSG senator?: I decided to become a GSG Senator because I believe in the importance of advocating for graduate students and supporting the opportunities available to them, especially through grant funding. As someone who is passionate about education and having benefited from the resources at the University of Maine, I wanted to give back by helping other students access the tools and support they need for their academic success.

How would you best serve your constituents?: I will best serve my constituents by being approachable, responsive, and transparent. My goal is to make sure graduate students are aware of the grant opportunities available to them and assist them in navigating the application process. Additionally, I will listen to their concerns and feedback, actively representing their voices in discussions. I aim to create an inclusive environment where students feel comfortable coming to me with any questions or issues they might have.

Please tell us about your research or some fun facts about you: While I am currently an MAT student, I have a background in marine science from my undergraduate studies at UMaine. Outside of academics, I love channeling my creativity into different art forms. I paint portraits of pets and weddings in my free time, which has been a great outlet for me, and I also run a small crochet shop. These hobbies allow me to connect with people in unique ways while pursuing my passion for art.

How do you plan on communicating with your constituents?: I plan on communicating with my constituents primarily through email and attending GSG meetings, where I will provide regular updates and seek input. I will also be available for one-on-one conversations to ensure that everyone’s needs are addressed. I believe in clear, proactive communication and will strive to keep everyone informed about important deadlines, grant opportunities, and any issues that may arise.
