What graduate programs does UMaine have?

Graduate-level education has been available at the University of Maine since the first master’s degree was conferred here in 1881. From that time on, graduate offerings have expanded significantly to include our current selection of over 70 master’s and 30 doctoral areas of study, as well as numerous certificate programs.

The decision to start graduate school has never been easier with the graduate programs offered at UMaine. With over 150 total graduate degree programs and a variety of supportive modalities to choose from, you’re bound to find the master’s degree, doctoral degree, or graduate certificate program that’s just right for you.

How do I apply for graduate school at UMaine?

Applying for a graduate program at UMaine is really easy! Here’s how you can do it in five simple steps:

Create your graduate application portal account

Visit the graduate application portal and create your account. You will receive email prompts with details about your next steps.

Reach out to your references

Check to see if your anticipated program requires letters of recommendation and let your references know to expect your request. All you have to do is put their email address in the application and they will receive a prompt.

Fill out the UMaine graduate application

After writing your essay, filling out the application only takes 20 to 30 minutes. You can save as you go, so you don’t have to do it all at once.

Get any supporting materials you may need in order

While a resume and essay are required for all programs, you may be asked to submit additional materials based on your program. This could include things like test scores, writing samples, and portfolios.

Upload your application documents

You can upload your unofficial transcripts, test scores (if required), essay, and other supporting materials through the application portal. Once you have uploaded your documents and filled out the application, you are almost done! Official transcripts are only required upon admission.

Submit your graduate application to UMaine
