Purpose:
The UMaine School of Nursing (SON) Graduate Research Assistant (GA) on the WellNurse: Wellness in Nursing Education to increase Resilience and Reduce Burnout project and Nursing Workforce Diversity project. The GA will support the overall project’s goals from recruitment through data analysis and dissemination. The GA will have an opportunity to engage in a variety of wellness interventions (Mindfulness-based stress reduction, fitness, nutrition, and wellness seminars) and have an opportunity to develop and research the effects of a resilience, diversity, equity or inclusion intervention of their choosing as part of a doctoral dissertation requirements.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provide support in reviewing research articles related to resilience building and burnout prevention among nursing and other health professions.
  • Provide support in reviewing research articles related to college student retention, belonging, and inclusion.
  • Support data collection and recruitment for WellNurse interventions and programs.
  • Support dissemination efforts for the WellNurse team (creating presentation PowerPoints, posters presentations, and marketing materials).
  • Support the Project Manager in gathering data for federal reporting requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned by Principal Investigator depending on the project or funding.

Required Knowledge & Skill Qualifications:

  • Enrollment in a PhD. program is required.
  • Students in health-related fields including psychology, nutrition, social work, education, exercise science, communication science, and disorders, or iPhD.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Technical skills such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Organization and networking skills.
  • Polite and courteous customer service skills.
  • Self-directed and able to prioritize and meet deadlines.

Applicants must be admitted to a UMaine Ph.D. program and enrolled full-time. Preference will

This is a 9-month position, requiring a commitment of 20 hours per week during fall and spring
semester. The appointment carries a monthly stipend of $2222.23/month, plus a tuition waiver for up
to 9 graduate credits per semester and 100% of the insurance premium if covered under a plan offered
by the University of Maine. The opportunity to expand this appointment for 2-3 will be contingent
upon funding availability. This opportunity is funded through the Doctoral Research Fellowship
Program.
