CONTAACT-ME Recruiting Scholars

three women looking at computerThis spring, ten students were selected as CONTAACT-ME scholars. The Cross-disciplinary Online Training to promote Augmentative and Alternative Communication and Tele-Intervention for Maine project (or CONTAACT-ME) is an interdisciplinary project to recruit and retain educators and related service providers committed to working with young children with disabilities and their families. EI/ECSE and Communication Sciences and Disorders scholars will also focus on instruction about the use of augmentative and alternative tools and strategies for supporting young children with high-intensity communication needs. This will also address the need for Maine’s early childhood educators to be trained to use these practices and strategies. The CONTAACT-ME project is actively recruiting for the next cohort of scholars. Applications for the CONTAACT-ME funding opportunity will be accepted until June 30, 2021. Successful applicants will be notified by July 15, 2021, with an expected start date coinciding with the fall 2021 semester.
