Frequently Asked Questions

What is included in the cost of my registration?

Your registration fee includes access to all conference sessions on Monday and Tuesday, and the Community Science Showcase and Reception on Sunday. Registration covers breakfast and lunch on Monday and Tuesday, and light fare and drink at the Sunday evening reception. Attendees are responsible for their own dinner reservations and expenses.

What type of weather should I expect?

During mid-November in Portland it is beautiful and you can experience the last weeks of a New England autumn. While the lows at night can drop to around 33 degrees, the highs soar to around 50 degrees on most days. We recommend you bring a warm coat or jacket with you especially if you are not as acclimated to this colder autumn weather.

Which airport should I fly into?

The nearest airport to the conference site is the Portland Jetport, about 15 minutes away from the hotel. Portland is also easily accessible from Boston via car, train, or bus.

Will participant support be available to help attendees pay for travel costs?

Yes, all EPSCoR jurisdictions will be eligible to receive travel assistance for five designated participants to attend the 2022 NSF EPSCoR National Conference. Plans for how this financial assistance will be dispersed are available under the participant support section here

Is there a limit to how many people can attend from each EPSCoR jurisdiction?

No, there is no limit on the number of attendees from each jurisdiction.

Will attendees have more than one hotel option?

Currently, the only official conference hotel is the Westin Portland Haborview, but there are many hotels in downtown Portland close to the conference venues. Additional hotels will be added so please check back for more information.

Will students have an opportunity to participate in the conference?

Yes, students are welcome at the conference. There will be a student poster session and a conference track dedicated to attending students.

Is there a limit on how many students may present posters?

Yes, the current recommendation is to have two students presenting from each jurisdiction. All students who are interested in presenting are encouraged to do so. Please reach out if you have any concerns or questions.

Will the conference be accessible for attendees with disabilities?

Yes, all conference event venues are accessible, and the conference organizers are happy to accommodate attendees with disabilities. Please contact the Maine EPSCoR office at (207) 581-3312 or EPSCoR22@umaine.edu to discuss accommodations.
