Bio: Shannan Fotter is a lecturer in the School of Kinesiology, Physical Education and Athletic Training in the University of Maine College of Education and Human Development. Prior to returning to UMaine, Shannan worked as a secondary physical education teacher and coach for eleven years. In addition to her teaching responsibilities Shannan also served as the Special Olympics coordinator for her school department. She holds state certifications in physical education, health education, adapted physical education, and athletic administration. Her responsibilities within the college are primarily focused in the teacher preparation program and she conjointly coordinates with local schools and adult agencies to provide one-on-one motor and aquatics programming to individuals with disabilities through the Adapted Physical Education course. Shannan is an executive board member of the Maine Task Force on Adapted Physical Education.
