Bio: Annette Nelligan earned an Ed.D. in counselor education from the University of Maine and served as an adjunct instructor in the counselor education program for 14 years prior to accepting her current full-time faculty position in 2010. She is a licensed professional clinical counselor (LCPC), a licensed marriage and family therapist (LMFT), and a licensed social worker (LSW). She also is certified by the Department of Education as a school counselor and as a secondary level English/language arts and social studies teacher. Past professional experiences include positions as a clinical coordinator, school counselor, casework supervisor and social worker. Her areas of teaching and research interests include group counseling, multicultural counseling and education, and assessment. Nelligan serves on the board of the Maine School Counselors Association as well as on the Maine Counseling Association ethics board. She has organized a symposium for educators of international students in Maine, developed and taught Maine Island Culture and Community Engagement—a service learning course that includes placements in schools—and organized and taught peer mentor training programs for several Maine high schools.
