Julie Ireland
Bio: Julie Ireland is the College of Education and Human Development’s field experience coordinator. She is responsible for facilitating and overseeing all aspects of student teacher field experiences, including school placements, curriculum implementation, accreditation preparation and mentorship.
Julie graduated from the University of Maine with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education before spending 25 years teaching in a variety of elementary and early childhood education settings. For seven of those years, she was an assistant instructor of early childhood education at Eastern Maine Community College, supervising student teachers during their field placement experiences. During that time, she discovered a passion for guiding pre-service educators. In 2021, Julie found her way back to UMaine as an adjunct faculty instructor in field experience and teacher preparation. She also worked as a graduate assistant in the College of Education and Human Development’s Advising Center.
When she’s not teaching, learning and advising, Julie loves spending time with family and friends, and volunteering as a therapy dog team in educational settings with her black lab Ellie and her grand-dog black lab Layla.
