Early College Orientation Documents

Welcome to Early College!

We are so pleased that you have chosen to jump start your college education at the University of Maine and its regional campus in Machias. Whether you are a new or returning high school student, we ask that you complete an Early College Orientation session with our team and carefully review the enclosed documents.

We have included a few important reminders about your University of Maine course(s):

  1. University classes follow the university academic calendar. Your course does not follow your high school calendar. If you have a day off from high school you may not have the day off from your college course. Please make sure you review the calendar.
  2. The course syllabus will be available on or before the first day of class(es) on Brightspace and will include course expectations, textbook information, as well as assignment and examination dates. Please refer to your syllabus regularly to ensure that you stay on track in your course.
  3. Your university email address is the official means of communication for all university related business, including correspondence with your professor, the Early College team, and other campus offices. Please make sure that you can access this and check it regularly.

The Early College team will host Early College Q&A sessions on Zoom throughout the semester to answer any questions you have and provide resources. You will receive invites to these sessions through your personal email, used on your ExplorEC account.
