CCAR Sea Vegetable Nursery Seed Sales
In an effort to promote R&D that supports the expansion of sea vegetable aquaculture in Maine the CCAR sea vegetable nursery will offer seeded line for several types of sea vegetables for fall 2017.
Seed spools contain approximately 200’ of seed twine wrapped around a pvc pipe, and are produced in the nursery from native Maine parent plants. We strongly encourage farmers to use local strains on their farms, and offer cultures originating from the Downeast, Midcoast, and Southern Maine regions.
Utmost care is taken to provide high quality seed, but CCAR accepts no liability for performance of seed on farm sites. All sales are final. Price per spool is $100 and orders are limited to 10 spools per grower.
Organic and conventional seed is available. Please indicate your preference on the order form. Organic seed orders will include a $10 additional charge on the total order. Please note that each farm and company must be organically certified separately to produce a certifiable crop. Please contact MOFGA for more information.
Seed spools must be pre-ordered by August 1, 2017. Please contact Dr. Susan Brawley (brawley@maine.edu) if you wish more information or would like to place an order, and she will send the necessary paperwork to complete the order. Spools of seeded line will be available in late September.
