Began Conservation Science NRT Program Fall 2021

I was drawn to the program because of its interdisciplinary nature. I love tackling a project from multiple angles, and the NRT Conservation Science program does just that.

I received a BS in Biology with a Botany option from Millersville University of Pennsylvania and a MS in Ecology and Environmental Science from the University of Maine. I have worked as the science department head for Forest Hills high school in Jackman, Maine, where I taught biology, chemistry, earth science, environmental science, and physics for 9-12 students. I’ve also worked with the non-profit Rural Aspirations where I lead community development projects for rural Maine high schools. I am interested in the human dimensions of wildlife conservation with a focus on small natural features. My current research will work to improve conservation practices for vernal pools in Maine, particularly for small private landowners, municipalities, and land trusts. I love working to conserve organisms that get less attention, such as insects and amphibians.
