Virtual Community of Practice

The Digital Equity & E-Inclusion Community of Practice (DECoP) will bring together faculty interested in supporting, exploring, and cultivating a digital equity practice. Group members will use Creating Inclusive Learning Opportunities in Higher Education (opens in a new window) by Sheryl Burgstahler as a guide for discussion, and for course modifications. Over the semester, participants will work on an aspect of their course to address through the lens of digital equity. We hope you will dedicate ~ 1hr of work outside of meetings on your course modifications.

Meetings will be held every other Thursday from 3:00-4:00pm. Meetings will be via Zoom

September 8th – Introduction & What is UDL?

September 22nd – Personas and how we use them.

October 6th  – Your syllabus as a teaching tool.

October 20th  – Integrating and applying UDL/UDI to content.

November 3rd – Integrating and applying UDL/UDI to assessments and activities.

November 17th – Transparency for your students.

December 1st – Feedback and iteration.

December 15th – Faculty presentations and peer review.

Asynchronous Final Reflection & Self-Evaluation Due December 16th

As with all our CoPs we ask that you commit to attending most meetings, recognizing that occasional conflicts may arise. We hope that you can attend at least 80% of all meetings.
