BUA 601 – Strategic Data Analysis
To inform organizational decisions, students will learn to identify business problems, differentiate types of big data, propose a research question, and think critically about which statistical processes and applications will yield insights from the data.

BUA 680 – Foundations of Business Intelligence and Analytics
This course presents the philosophical and technical foundations of business intelligence and analytics. The philosophical principles of business intelligence and analytics are discussed. Important fundamental concepts and tools in business intelligence and analytics are introduced using a structured and integrated approach that moves from initial data collection to final decision outcome assessment. Throughout the course, conditional reasoning and logical thinking in terms of process and systems are emphasized.

MBA 610 – Managerial Accounting for Decision Making
This course will introduce you to the analysis and evaluation of accounting information for usage in managerial decision-making. The topics covered include cost behavior and cost estimation, cost-volume-profit (CVP) analysis, relevant costs for the decision-maker, mastering the master budget, data analytics concepts, joint costs and decision-making, pricing and revenue optimization, management control systems and transfer pricing, and business strategy, performance measurement, as well as the balance scorecard. These topics will be examined at the graduate level and are relevant to students interested in pursuing the CPA and CMA certifications, as well as to those interested in pursuing entrepreneurship opportunities.

MBA 626 – Management of Contemporary Organizations
Explores analytical perspectives to understand how individuals organize themselves in accomplishing organizational goals. Topics include organizational structure, culture, teamwork and diversity, the organization and the global environment.

MBA 637 – Global Supply Chain Networks
An introduction to managing the flow of material, products, services, information, and cash via the processes, technologies, and facilities that link primary suppliers through to ultimate customers. Attention is given to the functions of forecasting, production planning, supply management, production, transportation, inventory, warehousing, packaging, materials handling, and customer service.

INT 500 – Climate Resilience
This course begins with the unavoidable reality of a changing climate. As the IPCC has acknowledged, there is no longer a path to full mitigation of global temperature rise over the course of the twenty-first century. Entities of all sizes – public and private – must confront the challenges posed by the effects of climate change, some of which have already materialized. This course will examine the physical, financial, social, and regulatory risks presented from two overarching perspectives – that of the private company and that of the public municipal government.

MBA 645-0992 – Creative Problem Solving
This course explores strategies for innovation and creative problem-solving as well as frameworks for entrepreneurial planning/thinking and business modeling. Through experiential activities, readings, and business model analysis, students learn creative techniques employed by creative makers and thinkers from artists to scientists and entrepreneurs. Students apply what they have learned to generate and assess entrepreneurial ideas. As part of this course, we will engage in several creative modalities (e.g., breathwork, meditation, movement, art, music, play, etc.) designed to engage our creative minds. Working in teams and with a company in Maine (LL Bean, WEX, Tyler Technologies, etc.) you will use creativity and business models to address a semester-long business challenge.

MBA 645-0991 – Digital Marketing
The purpose of digital marketing is to prepare students with a foundational understanding of digital marketing channels and how successful marketing campaign use online and mobile platforms. This course covers the fundamentals of digital marketing including internet marketing strategies, user-generated content, search engine optimization, website design and management, inbound marketing, email marketing, social media campaigns, mobile apps, content strategy and paid advertising.

Field experience in business relevant to the student’s educational development and career goals. (Neither past work experience or field experience courses taken at other campuses or universities will be permitted as substitutes.) Only open to MBA students. This course introduces students to a variety of cutting-edge data mining methods for the purpose of supervised learning and unsupervised learning. Students will apply these methods to analyze data in different business functional areas such as marketing, accounting/finance, operation, and management across industry sectors. The course emphasis is on learning valuable data information from the data analysis results and discovery interpretable and meaningful knowledge that can support better business decision making. Preventable medical error is believed to be one of the leading causes of death and serious harm in the United States. This online course provides an interdisciplinary, cross-setting overview of patient safety principles, techniques, and best practices. LOS 551 – Diplomacy in a Modern World: The Craft of Global Leadership
This course offers an overview of the political, social, business, and technological challenges of the global environment. Students gain an understanding of different perspectives of critical global issues (peace, poverty, energy, water, environment) and examine the ways of sovereign states and non-traditional “actors” assert their specific geopolitical interests. Critical attributes and functions of global leaders serving as ambassadors for their states/organizations/causes/brands are discussed, along with the role of international organizations (International Financial Institutions, etc.) in facilitating multi-state collaboration on development assistance and social progress. Students explore the origins of the craft of diplomacy and its modern state (regional diplomacy, trade diplomacy, e-diplomacy) and learn the foundations of diplomatic protocol and how cross-cultural competency contributes to the success of global leaders. Through readings, discussion forums, and case study analyses students will enhance their critical thinking skills and gain an understanding of key skills and best practices of effective global leaders.
