BSBA Assurance of Learning Outcomes: 2021-2022

Direct AoL Measures

  • Knowledge
    a. Our learners will graduate knowing core concepts in the major business disciplines. [ETS]
    b. Knowledge: Time Value of Money. Learners will be able to calculate time value of money, without a calculator. [mini-case]
  • Communication
    a. Oral. Our graduates will be effective communicators (e.g., will demonstrate the ability to deliver a professional oral presentation) [rubric, recorded presentations].
    b. Written. Our graduates will be effective communicators (e.g., will demonstrate effective written communication skills) [rubric, mini-cases and formal papers].
  • Teamwork: Students will understand how to be effective team members. [CATME]
  • Ethics and Critical Thinking: Students will use a critical thinking framework to apply decision rules to ethical dilemmas as they consider the stakeholders affected. [mini-case]
  • Global: Intercultural Perspectives. Students will demonstrate the awareness of different cultural perspectives and the ability to adapt behavior to cultural differences. (modified from the IDI website for an IDI measurement as a pilot test, spring 2022)
  • Technological Agility/Problem Solving
    a. ALO: Technological Agility/Problem Solving – Our learners will feel confident in using technology and analytical techniques to help solve problems and draw appropriate conclusions. [indirect measures of alumni]
    b. ALO: Technological Agility/Techniques — Excel. Our students will be able to use Excel at a professional level and 60% or more will pass the Excel Certification Exam [GMetrix rubric; Excel certifications].

  • Alumni: Our alumni will report that the BSBA program had a positive impact on their skills related to our defined AoL outcomes [survey].
  • Employers: Employers will report that students perform well during internships [survey].

MBA Learning Outcomes: 2019-2020

  • Problem Solving: Students will be able to recognize, define, analyze, and offer solutions to problems under resource and information constraints.
  • Knowledge: Students will demonstrate competency in the basic business disciplines.
  • Communication: Students will demonstrate effective oral and written communications skills.
  • Global: Our students will be able to conduct business in a foreign environment by understanding and appreciating differences in business practices and cultures and conducting themselves responsibly.
  • Teamwork: Students will learn how to develop successful teams, and will effectively work in and contribute to multiple teams while in the program.

  • Ethical and Critical Thinking: MBA learners will apply a critical thinking framework* to consider stakeholders as they use ethical principles* to recommend solutions for current business situations.
