Cassandra Leeman

Cassie Leeman is a Marine Biology and Marine Policy masters student in the Brady lab. Her research seeks to identify where the stress points are within Maine’s lobster supply chain that influence mortality of lobsters. Prior to joining the lab, she attended Eckerd College and graduated with a BS in Marine Science with a focus in biology and a minor in Sustainability. At Eckerd she conducted research on barnacles, freshwater turtle species, and coastal management. Undergraduate internships included two summers in the Brady lab as a SEANET intern where she conducted growth studies of Eastern oysters in the Damariscotta River and Bremen lobster pound, assisted on research quantifying nitrogen loads from tributaries of Casco Bay, and worked on water quality monitoring projects. Cassie also spent a summer at the Downeast Institute in Beals, ME where she was a hatchery assistant and conducted growth studies on Eastern oysters within two lobster pounds. Her love of the marine science field stems from her childhood of ocean-based experiences while living on the coast of Maine.
