Malcolm Nelson

Malcolm Nelson is currently a Master’s student in the Anthropology and Environmental Policy Program. He is from Wisconsin. In 2021, Malcolm received his Bachelor of Arts in Archaeology with an emphasis in Cultural Anthropology from the University of Wisconsin – La Crosse. He is fluent in French and English and he knows some Spanish as well. Sustainability is at the core of Malcolm’s research interests. Having volunteered at a community garden for 3 years in La Crosse, Wisconsin, Malcolm became interested in how people practice sustainable living and how they perceive their relationships with other living beings as well. He is particularly drawn to how language shapes one’s identity regarding nature and influences our relationships with nature. He intends to pursue this question with regard to the French and their community gardens (jardins communautaires) in Québec.
