Guidance on Project Hires

Investigators should, if possible, avoid hiring temporary employees to work on sponsored projects, especially in cases where the project work assigned is expected to continue beyond the end of the temporary employment. Such hires result in administrative costs to the University which, by law, cannot be charged to sponsored awards or used as cost-sharing. ORSP, Human Resources and the Office of Budget and Business Services encourage investigators to hire the appropriate type of employee to perform project tasks.

UMAPIT Program Update

Year 2 materials for the UMAPIT Program are available! UMAPIT (University of Maine Advisory Panel and Internal Team for Research Proposal Review) is a program designed to support and strengthen the grant writing skills and funding success of UMaine faculty through voluntary peer review of grant proposal drafts before they are submitted to funding agencies.
