Athletic Training Student Organization
The Athletic Training Student Organization (ATSO) focuses on continuing the athletic training student’s education outside of the traditional classroom setting. The meetings are student run and organized focusing on the emphasis and reinforcement of the knowledge and principles taught throughout the various courses. Junior and senior members of the organization have the opportunity to act as peer instructors / mentors to some of the less experienced athletic training students. The organization also strives to enlighten the community to what an athletic trainer is and what role he or she can play in their community. Meetings also may include guest lecturers from other related health professions, who present information or demonstrations on a particular subject of expertise to expose students to new material. Some meetings are also organized to familiarize students with the NATA Board of Certification exam testing procedure along with valuable reviews of material for the examination.
