Carlton A. Brown began his surveying career with the New Jersey Department of Transportation for 2 years before moving back to his hometown of Newburyport, Massachusetts where he worked for Port Engineering Associates, Inc. of Newburyport for the next 26 years. In 2000 he moved to Maine for graduate work at the University of Maine. In the Fall of 2003 Carlton became the first instructor of the then newly-created Civil Engineering Technology program at Eastern Maine Community College in Bangor, developing and teaching the new curriculum. In the Fall of 2005 he became the third faculty member of the Surveying Engineering Technology program.
