UMaine Financial Aid Planning

Make Your UMaine Scholarships and Grants Work for You!

  • UMaine merit scholarships and institutional grants are awarded based on 30 credits of enrollment per academic year
  • Students decide how to use their 30 credits of merit scholarships and institutional grants each semester, based on your actual enrollment, over the course of Fall, Winter, Spring, and Summer

The information below applies to students at the Orono campus.

To equate your per credit scholarship and grant amount, take the total academic year scholarship and grant amount and divide that number by 30 (the number of credits aid offer is based on)

Plan it Out!

Based on your enrollment plans for each semester, you can use your Per Credit Scholarship Amount to determine how much aid you will be able to use.

Fall: The Estimated Scholarship and Grant Amount Per Semester* is based on the Expected Number of Credits per Semester multiplied by the Per Credit Scholarship and Grant Amount.

Spring (including Winter): The Estimated Scholarship and Grant Amount Per Semester* is based on the Expected Number of Credits per Semester multiplied by the Per Credit Scholarship and Grant Amount.

Summer: The Estimated Scholarship and Grant Amount Per Semester* is based on the Expected Number of Credits per Semester multiplied by the Per Credit Scholarship and Grant Amount.

*PLEASE NOTE: The total Estimated Scholarship Amount for all 3 terms can not exceed the Total Academic Year Scholarship and Grant Amount (a).
