The School of Performing Arts Division of Theatre and Dance presents Anon(ymous) by Naomi Iizuka, directed by Libra assistant professor of English and Theatre Rosalie Purvis, debuting Friday, October 15 at 7:30 pm in the Cyrus Pavilion Theatre.
A multimedia production in collaboration with Debaroti Chakraborty, members of Chaepani Performance Collective, and students from the Presidency College Performing Arts Department in Kolkata, India, Anon(ymous) is a contemporary re-imagining of Homer’s Odyssey. Separated from his mother, a young refugee called Anon journeys through the United States in search of his family, encountering a wide variety of people – some kind, some dangerous, and some cruel. Additional performances October 16, 21, 22, and 23 at 7:30 pm, and October 17 and 24 at 2:00 pm. Tickets are $12 or free for students with MaineCard.
