Internship Opportunities at NGA in Northern Virginia and Across the Country

The University of Maine has been designated a national Center of Academic Excellence in Geospatial Sciences. As such, we have been informed that the National Geospatial Intelligence Agency (NGA) will be giving extra scrutiny to students that apply for internships from our academic programs because they know that the University of Maine offers the range courses providing the skills in which their agency is interested. NGA is looking for about 170 interns for this summer from across the nation.

They are particularly interested in students that might be able to spend multiple summers with them prior to graduation.

Check out their internship qualifications and information page at https://erecruit.nga.mil/psp/EXPROD_1/EMPLOYEE/HRMS/c/HRS_HRAM.HRS_APP_SCHJOB.GBL

The deadline for applying is very soon since they also run selected applicants through a security clearance process. SUBMIT YOUR COMPLETE APPLICATION ON OR BEFORE THE CLOSE OF BUSINESS ON FRIDAY OCT. 9.

The National Geospatial Intelligence Agency (NGA) specializes in satellite imagery and geospatial intelligence. Work assigned to students in the internship program is professional in nature and is conducted in a learning environment that provides each student real-world experience and an opportunity to be evaluated for potential long-term employment.

In short, the eligibility requirements include:

  • Applicants must be a U.S. citizen, and at least 18 years of age.
  • Applicants must have and maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, as determined by their educational institute.
